Courtesy of Claire and John Bertucci,
there’s a MGH oncology clinic where
there is a big gray waiting room.
I sit, write, wait for my wife,
who’d rather I not
attend the appointment.
I will learn she is not dying
any more than most of us,
which is to say not yet.
Scans are clear,
bloodwork as it should be,
prognosis not definitive,
which is what we hoped.
We celebrate at the
Vegetarian Galaxy Diner,
Peoples’ Republic of Cambridge,
mouth-watering ersatz meats.
This is our Thanksgiving.
~ Wry Welwood,
November 2022.
We will give thanks again this Thursday. May we all be full of thanks, including gratitude for those who were here before.
